Native Garden Planting at Bay View Park

  • Bay View Park 208 N 1st Ave Alpena, MI 49707 (map)

Help us transform Bay View Park into a pollinator haven! Join Huron Pines and the City of Alpena for a hands-on volunteer opportunity that will make a lasting impact in the community. We're creating beautiful native plant gardens at Bay View Park that serve a dual purpose: providing essential habitat for pollinators while naturally managing stormwater runoff. These carefully selected native plants will enhance one of Alpena's beloved green spaces, support bees and butterflies, and filter rainwater before it reaches Lake Huron—helping protect our community's clean water for generations to come.

What You'll Do: Roll up your sleeves and help us plant native plugs that will bloom into vibrant gardens supporting bees, butterflies and other pollinators. No gardening experience necessary – just bring your enthusiasm for making Alpena more beautiful and ecologically healthy!

All skill levels welcome. Perfect for families, individuals, and groups looking to make a positive environmental impact.

This event is hosted by Huron Pines. Huron Pines is leading the effort to inspire lakeshore communities in Michigan to join the Lake Huron Forever initiative.
